My Background and Approach
I obtained my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Michigan State University in 2008 and my Masters of Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School in 2023 where I concentrated in BIPOC/Latinx Mental Health. This concentration provided assessment and treatment approaches by and for Black, Indigenous and People of Color. My approach is integrative, as each individual's identity and background are unique and important to the approach of treatment. Building empathy for self and others is essential in liberation. My goal is to provide a safe(r), non-judgmental space for you to explore and process your feelings and to embrace the power of connection and sitting in silence. I look forward to holding space for every piece of you. My approach: Trauma-Informed, Affirming, Integrative Holistic, Relational-Cultural, Narrative, Anti-Oppressive, Anti-Racist, Anti-Capitalist, Womanist.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe most of the barriers we face to our mental and physical well-being are a result of outdated and harmful structures, systems and unhealthy generational patterns we do not know how to break. By learning about the oppressive systems and patterns that have shaped us and our relationships, collaboratively we will work to identify your strengths as an individual and within your chosen family and community. We will work to change the narratives about the self, strengthen relationships by building empathy, and hold space for sadness and grief. Through connection, understanding and empathy- we will find liberation. Here we can heal and grow.
