I am Queer, Jewish couples and relationship therapist who loves what I do. Lets dive in and have some fun.

Marriage and Family Therapist Associate in Seattle, WA

About My Clients

I love working with people in different relationship structures (couples, polycules, open relationships, etc) who are wanting to improve such things as communication skills, cycles that don't feel positive, increase connection or navigate transitions in life. I love working within the Queer community and with people who feel motivated to explore change within themselves and their relationships.

My Background and Approach

My name is Sara Whitney and I am a queer, white, Jewish, able-bodied, cis-gender mom and wife with ADHD who was raised in Olympia, WA. My interest in becoming a relational therapist stems from my own experience with couple’s therapy as a client and seeing the wonders it did for my personal growth and the growth in my relationship. I have a deep belief that individual and relational therapy can be life changing and I understand that the therapy process can be daunting and requires vulnerability, which can be a big ask for many. A central goal of our work together is to create a safe and empowering space for you to grow within yourself and within your relationship(s). I mainly work from the Developmental Model lens, which asks each person to understand their own barriers to growth and have a goal of how they want to change those. In my free time, I am typically found chasing my toddler, toodling in the garden, riding bikes or spending time with friends and family.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

It is my life long work to be aware of my power and privileges as a cis-gender, white, woman and deconstructing the oppressive systems that I have participated in. We live in world filled with systemic oppression that few of us benefit from and have probably learned to continue cycles of oppression towards ourselves and others. My hope and work is with therapy, we can identify those cycles and work to change them individually and within our relationships.
