Accepting Clients

Hi, I'm Sarah Lonsdale Bledsoe, a licensed clinical social worker supervisor and member of the Thrive Therapy Houston team.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Houston, TX

About My Clients

I have had the privilege of working with a diverse client population with a range of concerns including mood disorders, childhood trauma, substance use, intimate partner or domestic violence, personality disorders, HIV and other chronic conditions, grief/loss, as well as the day to day stress of navigating life. I am especially passionate about my work with members of the LGBTQ+ community and their families.

My Background and Approach

I approach therapy through multiple frameworks and techniques, depending on the needs of my client. I have advanced training in EMDR, solution-focused brief therapy, the Gender ASSET, and treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. I also utilize techniques from acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). The Gender ASSET is used to provide supportive therapy and evaluations for individuals preparing to undergo gender affirming surgeries. If you would like to learn more about the process for obtaining letters of support for gender affirming surgical procedures, please contact me. I earned my Masters of Science in Social Work degree from the University of Texas in Austin and my Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from Saint Edward’s University. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Work Supervisor (LCSW-S).

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that all people are deserving of a safe, welcoming space to tell their story. For some, therapy is an opportunity to problem-solve a current challenge, and for others it is a chance to gain a better understanding of themselves and the experiences that brought them to where they are. As your therapist, I hope to partner with you in meeting your goals. For the LGBTQIA+ community, specifically trans and gender expansive folks, there is often the additional challenge of finding safe, affirming places in which they don’t have to explain or defend their sexuality or relationship styles, worry about being misgendered, or feel unable to be their authentic selves. As your therapist, I hope to create that space.
