About My Clients
My clients are most frequently individuals exploring identities alongside trauma processing. I have a very strong affinity for the intersection of LGBTQ+ and child sexual abuse, and this is the community I hope to provide space for most. I am queer and kink-involved, I wholly appreciate the spectrum that is non-monogamous partnerships and social constellations, and value + live life beyond the binary!
My Background and Approach
My background has heavily been focused on child trauma, notably childhood sexual abuse. I work with children to process the trauma and adapt to life after sexual abuse, as well as adults who are learning to reclaim their power and sexuality after trauma. Using kink as a healing practice, and exploring sexuality, human relationships beyond romance and society's predefined binaries, and abolishing the heteronormative foundations are among my values as a queer and kinky therapist. Empowerment and integrative/somatic healing are integral in my practice, as are narrative, creative & expressive arts, reprocessing, attachment-based approaches, relational, and internal family systems models. Every person is composed of countless layers of experiences and pieces of themselves that no one theory or approach will effectively treat. For that reason, my approach is generally interwoven and eclectic.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a white/culturally euro-centric provider, I have to examine and acknowledge my limitations as far as whether, and how, I can best serve the Black and People of Color communities. I actively challenge my bias and foundationally oppressive ideals in the ways I know how to, and continually seek opportunity to be educated on matters that are beyond my experience and understanding. As mentioned above, I identify as part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and actively contribute to the community in the ways that I can via mental health services and advocacy. I also take interest in local legislation and providing testimony and advocacy for the issues that impact our community and youth most. I adore travel and learning about myself through the lens of another culture and set of beliefs. This has broadened my outlook on myself and the world around me, and I carry this into my practice.
