Accepting Clients

As a person with privileged and marginalized roles, my practice, like my positionality, is political.

About My Clients

You are interested in learning the language of your body. You want to integrate your mind and body so they work together as one rather than at odds with each other. You want to get curious about the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that you use to protect you. You want to be imaginative, play, move, create art, and make noise during therapy. You are white and wanting to navigate that whiteness to be more embodied in Anti-Racism. You are trans and you want to come home to your body.

My Background and Approach

Because my practice is political, my approach incorporates teachings from Decolonizing, Anti-Racism, Mad Liberation, Fat Liberation, Queer Theory, as well as Black & Trans Feminism. I implement these teachings in combination with therapeutic approaches like Internal Family Systems (IFS), Art Therapy, Somatic Experiencing (SE), Polyvagal Theory, Sensorimotor Therapy, Hakomi, and Mindfulness. Regarding formalized training I have: I received a Bachelor of Psychology from Oakland University and a Masters of Social Work from the University of Michigan in 2023. I have received training in crisis intervention from The Trevor Project and Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy from the Embody Lab.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

It is my belief that much of the United States psychiatric system is set up to cater towards white, cis, straight, able and thin men while causing harm to any who do not navigate the world with all these identities. As such, I refuse to view myself as a prescriptive force. I am collaborative with you in all things including diagnosis, note taking, session content. It is my intention to create the space for you to set the standards for what is important for you then to follow and provide guard rails when needed. I resist coercive or involuntary ‘care’: functionally the police are far behind a list of non-carceral resources to draw on in crisis. Instead, I try to offer a space for you to develop compassion and respect for your body’s inherent wisdom. Where you may recognize your thoughts, behaviors, and emotions as appropriate responses to complex and systemic trauma.
