About My Clients

I thrive most when I am serving queer and trans, black, and brown communities. I ground my practice in relational cultural therapy where the therapeutic relationship is key to the work that is done in therapy. I provide LGBTQIA+-affirming mental health therapy. I also bring an anti-oppressive lens into my practice to work towards decolonizing our minds and bodies and as a guide to liberation.

My Background and Approach

I ground my practice in relational cultural therapy. I believe the work ain’t getting done unless the trust is there. How or why should I expect you to open up and discuss your past or current traumas unless we build trust? How am I supposed to support you on the goals you have unless there is a therapeutic relationship? I draw from different modalities which include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Theory, Intersectional Feminism, Systems Theory, and Racialized Trauma Healing, and incorporate mindful and grounding exercises. With these modalities, I strive to understand that different modalities work for different people. I also aim to have an anti-oppressive and critical lens when using these modalities.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My practice is grounded in creating a space where you can be your authentic true self. Within my therapeutic space, I acknowledge that trauma has impacted us in one way or another, so being intentional about creating a trauma-informed space is vital. When it comes to my practice, I keep in mind that our society, systems in our society, institutions, our identities, and our various communities and interpersonal relationships influence our perspective and the way we move through life. As a black non-binary therapist, I value creating a space to be vulnerable: a space where you are seen as your authentic self, a space to grow and heal on your life journey. Let me leave you with this: you are the expert of your own life, which I want to honor and respect. I hope to always take a collaborative approach in your healing journey. I am here to support you with your growth. When you step into my space, I want you to understand that you are valued.
