About My Clients
Maybe you’re tired because you keep hoping your relationship will change and it’s exhausting. Or you feel lost because keep repeating the same frustrating patterns with your partner. Relationships are an important way we find connection in daily life and when they are disconnected you can feel discouraged. My goal is to provide you a safe place in therapy to feel heard, empowered and find satisfaction. You can learn skills to become more effective in getting what you want in your relationships.
My Background and Approach
I started working in community mental health 8 years ago and realized my passion is to offer compassion and skills to those struggling to see the path ahead. I enjoy learning about others; their past and present, which can be a tool to use in shaping change for the future. I hold a strong value in connection with my clients and I work hard to do my part in building a bond of trust with each client. I also have a background in education and taught at the college level. I believe therapy is a great opportunity to teach clients the skills they need to achieve the goals they have set for themselves, as well as new information to shape their experience along the way. I am a licensed therapist in Kansas and Missouri, trained in EMDR. and a DBT therapist. I like to combine these modalities to bring about growth in my clients as they seek to gain emotional regulation or processing through past trauma. My joy is to offer comfort as my clients face the journey of change one step at a time.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I became involved with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy due to the large amount of misunderstanding and judgement placed on BPD clients. I have spent the last 4 years advocating for clients who struggle with emotional dysregulation and feel like they cannot change. I have worked tirelessly to attend trainings and also train others in how to help suicidal clients with Borderline Personality Disorder in order to help them feel safe, supported and heard.
