About My Clients
Making meaningful change in life is often challenging, multi-faceted, layered with complex emotions, and slower than we’d prefer. I support people who are seeking help with: Parenthood/Fertility Challenges/Perinatal Concerns; Anxiety & Stress Management; Substance Use; Relationships; Life Transitions; Identity; Trauma & Post-Traumatic Growth. Therapy doesn't fit neatly into one or two categories, though; areas of focus are fluid, intersectional, and woven together in unique ways for each client.
My Background and Approach
One of the first goals in therapy is to develop a strong partnership. As a client, you should feel like you set the pace for therapy and that your therapist is actively trying to understand your experiences and perspective. Your sessions should leave you with a felt sense of safety and control, even – and especially – during a vulnerable process. My approach is active and constructive, meaning I do more than just listen and allow for venting; therapy is also a place to peel back the layers of your experiences, develop insight into your patterns, and build new skills for moving forward. I offer solution-focused, practical tools combined with a patient and warm presence. I believe that you have expertise and solutions within you; my role is to draw them out and help you trust your own voice and perspective. Together, we can brainstorm what kind of practices you can put in place to achieve the progress and growth you’re striving for.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Practice For Progress provides therapy services to assist individuals in making meaningful changes in their lives; at the same time, we aim to advance and reshape the practice of mental health care. The people who seek out therapy are the ones who disrupt intergenerational patterns within their families and communities. They want to do things differently. It is a brave and powerful choice to strive for something new. We aim to normalize and transform therapy to a setting where people can bring their sense of worth, dignity, and pride along with their questions, challenges, and curiosities. We seek to de-stigmatize mental health care and recast it as a wellness tool that is accessible to people across all identities. Therapy doesn’t just impact the individuals who are making changes in their own lives; it ripples out to their families, communities, and networks. The healthier you are, the healthier we all are. We are connected.
