About My Clients
I love to work with queer neurodivergent people of color and any other person with marginalized identities. I also have experience writing letters of support/readiness for people trying to get gender-affirming care. I'm kink- and SW-friendly, though I know I have a lot to learn about both communities if I want to support them.
My Background and Approach
I like to work on developing mindfulness while also exploring the early events that make us who we are currently. I think tapping into early childhood memories is a great way to gain insight into our present-day struggles. I apply a trauma-informed and social model of disability lens to my practice in order to define and tackle problems. I incorporate expressive arts, and tarot if clients are open to it, into my practice often, because I think it helps communicate what can't be verbalized and reconnects the body and the mind. I also use EMDR therapy in my work to process experiences and gain insight. Generally I follow my clients' leads, because I believe they're the experts in their own lives and experiences. I act as a sounding board, or a guide, or whatever else as needed.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the liberation of marginalized people, and work to have my work reflect that. I try to take an abolitionist and harm-reduction approach to therapy when I can because I think that keeps the community safe.
