About My Clients
My clients are predominantly women, who are challenged by competing personal and professional demands. They are smart, thoughtful and goal-oriented. From the outside, they seem to be living an ideal life. They “present well” but often feel like imposters on the inside. They have devoted significant amounts of time and energy into roles defined by their association with others—colleague, parent, partner, spouse—often at the expense of their own needs. They feel overwhelmed and exhausted.
My Background and Approach
In my work, I utilize psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, somatic, attachment, spiritual and coaching interventions—all with a side of humor. I have masters degrees in counseling, business and divinity. I am trained in somatic experiencing and am a DARe (Dynamic Attachment Repatterning Experience) practitioner.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
One of my guiding principles for therapy addresses the inherent responsibility I believe we have to and for one another in community. I view therapy as a pathway for growth, transformation and healing. I have an open and affirming approach to counseling. I provide clients with an emotionally safe environment where their stories can emerge to create understanding and process trauma. I believe acknowledging and integrating unique influences of culture, ethnicity, religion and sexual orientation contribute to a client's feeling of wholeness.
