About My Clients
My clients are often in the LGBTQIA+ community, ENM relationships, suffering/struggling with chronic pain, in the BDSM/kink community, and/or trying to manage intense trauma (often many of these things at once!). I have a strong passion in helping those who may have been underrepresented, or have struggled finding a therapist who understands how to help them navigate the stressors, as opposed to having you educate them about your community/identification.
My Background and Approach
My approach is very person-specific, as I have tried to educate myself enough to utilize many different strategies and interventions. My most frequently used modalities include CBT, DBT, EMDR, somatic trauma approaches, Gottman, contextual, and IFT. With a background in Mathematics, family and human development (BS), couples and family therapy (MA), and finally community psychology (PhD), there are so many ways I have learned to help different types of people, struggling with many different types of things. Whether you need individual, couples, group, or family work, I can choose which modalities may work best for you!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My personal beliefs include a strong passion to help others in communities that are often misunderstood., especially communities that I am a part of or have close friends/family who have been hurt simply by how they identify. I am a strong proponent of helping people in ENM relationships or in the kink/BDSM community that do not have access to clinicians who understand how to help navigate life with these parts of self in mind. It is really important to me to also help people who have a multitude of ways they identify that may be "out of the norm" to make life feel easier. This is especially true for those struggling with chronic pain on top of being marginalized for who you are.
