About My Clients
Ty enjoys working with marginalized populations, including LGBTQ+ individuals and people of color. He acknowledges his own identities and biases, yet he embraces cultural humility and is always learning about our intersectional identities. He honors that all of us are worthy of embracing and living fully in our authenticity. He believes that we all have unique gifts and that part of his role in therapy empowering you to discover new ways to use your own gifts to help meet your goals.
My Background and Approach
The approaches Ty takes include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and social justice, feminist, and sex positive approaches. In therapy sessions, he aims to cultivate a safe, brave, space to collaboratively work toward discovering solutions to your treatment goals and living in line with your values. Ty also holds a BA in Medical Sociology. He is also a registered yoga teacher, accredited by the Yoga Alliance. His previous experience includes coordinating multiple research projects, staffing and career counseling, and community engagement and government relations for a nonprofit health system.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Ty recognizes that our environments, cultures, relationships, and experiences shape us, and that we are always changing and growing. Life can be challenging in today's world. Whether you're hoping to explore your identity, navigate a change, manage stress, develop tools to improve your mental health, or generally live a more peaceful life, therapy may be right for you. While we may not be able to change the world (at least not immediately), we can learn to accept our circumstances as they are and work to live more intentionally and in line with our values to co-create a more inclusive world together.
