About My Clients
As a Latina therapist, I am passionate about providing services to Black, brown, & other marginalized communities. There are often so many barriers & personal hurdles to accessing mental health services & I hope to change that & make the journey a little smoother for clients & their families. I have experience working with clients who struggle with a variety of mental health concerns such as anxiety, trauma, depression, & relational conflicts.
My Background and Approach
I have a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and I am recognized by the National Board of Certified Counselors. My goal as a therapist is to create a safe, non-judgmental, affirming space for all clients. I value the unique lived experiences and identities each of my clients bring to the therapy space and I want them to feel both seen and heard when they come to therapy. For this very reason, I make it a point to adjust my practice to the client's needs and work from an integrated model, utilizing various treatment modalities and theoretical orientations such as psychodynamic and person-centered therapy. Additionally, for my younger clients, I offer play therapy and family sessions as needed.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a clinician I seek to act as an advocate and ally to my clients and provide support for them and their families. I welcome clients of all backgrounds and identities, and find it important to make space for those identities in session. Although, I may not share the exact same experiences as my clients, I will always strive to open myself to them and create an environment where clients feel comfortable to share about them. Regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity you are welcome here and deserve access to quality mental health care. I practice from an anti-racist and anti-oppressive lens. With so many political changes occurring in our society I want to give the clients who are most effected a safe space to process and feel validated in a world that may not always do so.
