About My Clients

Life can be more challenging with chronic illness, pain, neurodiversity, anxiety, and depression. My fellow zebras may be familiar with the saying coined by Theodore Woodward, “When you hear hoofbeats, think of horses, not zebras,” which is commonly taught to doctors. This saying often results in individuals feeling invalidated and questioning their symptoms. Invalidation and lack of support can leave individuals feeling isolated. As a therapist, my goal is to support you through your journey.

My Background and Approach

I have experience working in crisis management, with those who struggle with substance use, are neurodivergent, individuals 13+, those who identify as LGBTQIA2+, and people who struggle with anxiety and depression. In a previous job, I led the development of a training on neurodiversity. I’m also well-versed in several chronic illnesses and pain conditions through hospital social work and lived experience. My practice focuses on viewing the whole person, including their childhood, relationships, environment, mental and physical health. In our therapy sessions you may see me referencing attachment theories and person-in-environment theory. I don’t rely on one specific modality to guide therapy. I use a combination of skills I’ve acquired from several modalities including CBT, solution-focused, motivational interviewing, and person-centered. Therapy is individualized for each person, and I think of our sessions as a team effort. We can work together to adjust therapy for you.
