It is an interdisciplinary approach and therapists that practice depth therapy believe that everyone has traits they may not be aware of that influence their emotions, decisions, work, and life. The unconscious influence that these traits have may be negative, and depth therapy helps individuals better recognize these subconscious forces at work, so that they might better understand their present situation. My clients come to therapy grieving a painful loss (like the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or even the loss of a part of their identity), trying to shift unhelpful patterns or behaviors in their relationships, struggling to adapt to a new life phase (like parenthood, starting college, or a new job), having a hard time managing big emotions, or seeking deeper meaning and connection. I particularly love working with young adults, moms and dads, and LGBTQ+ folks.
