Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that's triggered by a traumatic, scary or dangerous event. PTSD can be caused by either witnessing or experiencing the trauma. Events that sometimes trigger PTSD include everything from sexual assault, war, and violence, to car accidents or other incidents that could cause loss of life. It is not at all uncommon for people who go through something traumatic to have temporary difficulty coping and acute symptoms, but with time, they usually get better. However, if the symptoms last longer than a month, get worse rather than better and affect your ability to function, you may be suffering from PTSD. Symptoms of PTSD may include severe anxiety, anger, nightmares, trouble sleeping, flashbacks to the event, frightening thoughts, avoidance of situations or places, feeling on edge and/or being easily startled. If you think you may be experiencing PTSD, reach out to one of TherapyDen’s specialists today to get help.

I work with individuals and families who have experienced trauma, whether from a single event or a series of distressing experiences. Trauma often disrupts daily life in various ways. Sometimes the impact is more noticeable, such as avoiding places associated with the trauma, while at other times it is more subtle, like persistent feelings of unease, difficulty focusing, or challenges in relationships. I look forward to learning more about your and helping you find your path forward.

Being human is often tough. Sometimes we lose our way and can feel stuck and overwhelmed. Sometimes we would like to change parts of our lives or ourselves but don’t know how. Therapy can be an empowering way to promote healing, growth, and wellness. Often, we initially seek treatment to address a specific concern and then begin to uncover other areas of our lives in which we want to make meaningful change. My goal is for this process to feel supportive, affirming, and appropriately challenging.

You’ve been feeling really stuck for some time now, and it’s only been getting worse. Life seems to be passing you by, and while everyone else seems to be out there, chasing their dreams and finding meaningful friendships and relationships, you’ve been pretty much in the same place for years. Things might actually be getting worse—you’re feeling even more anxious and isolated. You’ve even started picking up unhealthy habits that you never thought you would.

Does this sound familiar to you? You want to feel peaceful and content, but instead you are: overwhelmed by stress, totally burned out, or even debilitated by anxiety. It’s been hard for you to manage the emotional toll of constant demands. You can rarely find a moment to stop and catch your breath. Each day feels like you are being stretched a bit thinner and you wonder how much you have left to give. Life doesn’t have to go on this way.

Does your anxiety get in the way when you are trying to talk to your partner, co-workers, boss, or clients and feel stuck? When we try to “fix” what is outside of us, inevitably, we will continue to feel stuck. When we try to look within ourselves; our emotions, thoughts, or prejudgments based on our beliefs or assumptions, we may challenge ourselves and ask what we believe is true. I hope you are willing to challenge yourself by examining your unquestioned mind. In-Network-VA, Out of network-FL
