About My Clients
I specialize in helping young adults embrace their identities, improve their relationships, regulate their emotions, and cope with the stress and anxiety of work and school. I'm especially passionate about working with chronically ill clients and LGBTQ+ clients.
My Background and Approach
My mission is to help you accept yourself exactly as you are while also giving you the tools you need to build a more meaningful life. Together we’ll develop a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs, strengths, and goals. I integrate techniques from evidenced-based therapies like dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and positive psychotherapy into our work together. My approach to counseling is informed by social justice, which means that I prioritize understanding and addressing the systemic barriers that impact your mental health and well-being. I’m a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the state of Kansas. I’m receiving supervision from Rachel Kostura Polk, LCPC. I have a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from the University of Kansas. Previously, I worked as a therapy intern at the DBT Center of Lawrence and as a therapy intern at the Positive Psychotherapy Clinic at the University of Kansas.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I used to work in the tech industry, but after becoming chronically ill and seeing the lack of mental health resources for disabled folks, I became passionate about quality mental healthcare. I decided to go back to school and become the therapist I wish I could have had. In my free time, I love playing board games with friends, binge-watching psychological thrillers with my husband, and hanging out with my golden retriever, Luna.
