About My Clients
My purpose as a therapist is to provide safe, affirming, and compassionate care to marginalized folx who have historically been denied access to therapy. I am passionate about helping clients unpack generational and racial trauma; couples looking for strategies to better communicate, connect, and resolve conflict; and individuals and partners who are looking for support navigating the emotional, social, and behavioral experiences of living with a chronic illness and chronic pain.
My Background and Approach
I have experience advocating for vulnerable communities experiencing domestic violence, homelessness, substance use, and disability. My background informs my understanding of the unique needs of individuals with similar histories, as well as the social, economic, and political factors impacting the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of folx with these experiences. I am here to help you identify and reimagine pathways to healing and wellness, based in your personal and ancestral knowledge; to explore ways to exist more authentically within your environment and relationships; and to challenge individualism as the only legitimate pathway to healing by prioritizing healing in relationship with others. We will explore your lived experience with curiosity, including holding space for you to reflect on the impact of your environment, so that you can move forward in your healing with less shame and more agency.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a Bi-sexual Black Woman. I am partnered in an interracial relationship. I am familiar with the challenges of growing up houseless and value the life experience it’s provided me. I am a dancer. I am a lover of all things related to tea. I am unashamed of my love for reality tv. I am a person who feels connected to those I can have long conversations with. I am a believer in rest, joy, and liberation. I am at home when I am in the woods. I am also an avid foodie, either spending too much time looking for new recipes to cook or finding a new restaurant to try. When I am not thinking about food, I am on walks with my Whippet puppy; dancing with family and friends; finding a park or scenic place to have a picnic; or searching for my next camping destination.
