About My Clients
Clients who don’t have prior experience with counseling will often tell me that our first session felt a lot easier than they anticipated. Therapy might not be “fun”, but it doesn’t have to be intimidating, frightening, or bereft of humor. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling, happier life, and to take the first steps toward change. If you are ready to take that step, I would be happy to have the opportunity to support and empower you on your journey.
My Background and Approach
I take a pretty conversational approach to therapy; I don’t have a problem engaging clients, asking questions, and exploring themes to address. I have an affinity for working with introverted clients who are sometimes afraid they will have “nothing” to say, or “don’t know where to start.” My counseling style is warm, interactive, and nonjudgmental. I am client-centered, and use various interventions from a range of therapeutic approaches depending on what works best for my client.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe the best therapists must first have experience as clients themselves, and I do not believe in stigmatizing mental health concerns. Instead, I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I enjoy working with a variety of clients, but a large part of my practice focuses on LGBT+ issues, neurodivergence, and trauma.
