About My Clients
I started my own Private Practice in October of 2012 in North Texas. During this time I found that I enjoy working with clients that have trouble managing their anxiety and depression. As wells, clients with traumatic pasts. I am a Military family life counselor and have a lot of experience with children, spouses and Soldiers/Veterans. I am trained in EMDR, or bilateral stimulation. I take somewhat of a holistic approach to help manage and eventually get rid of the anxiety.
My Background and Approach
I have many sets of tools that I have used and perfected over the last 8 years. A lot of the tools I provide we will practice with in session so that you feel more confident using in your daily life. I am trained in EMDR or bilateral stimulation. In some form or other I utilize many of the exercises with EMDR in my sessions even outside of EMDR sessions. Every year I choose a different method of therapy or one IU'm already trained in and attend several workshops and training sessions in order to stay as up to date on tools and techniques.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I b believe it is important that everyone feel valued regardless of the way you choose to live your life. I grew up in a VERY rural area of Oklahoma. My parents and extended family were amazing and helped foster my love of everyone. I am extremely opened minded and I love meeting interesting and unique people through work or my personal life. I fully support all forms of the LGBTQ community. My children and I both participate in marches in our area yearly. I have also attended "Gay Days" at Universal Studios in Orlando multiple times in support of several family members. I am also an animal lover and during my time in Texas helped to establish an animal sanctuary 5013c. I also have a therapy dog who works with me and will make many appearances on video sessions. Although she doesn't like the tele therapy platform as much as in person because she doesn't get her client contact, occasional treats and pets.
