Ashton works with teens, adults, couples, and families. Her expertise lies in working with teens and young adults experiencing distress due to sudden change or life transitions such as moving, school disruptions, death/loss, injury/illness, and divorce. Additionally, Ashton is specialized in addressing complex trauma and chronic stress associated with childhood/family of origin issues and she incorporates this into the treatment plan when working with individuals, couples, and families.
My Background and Approach
Ashton Moore is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Ashton received a B.S. in Human Development & Family Studies from Texas Tech University and M.Ed. in Counseling and Development from Lamar University. Ashton primarily uses EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy to treat a variety of mental health concerns. EMDR is a highly effective, evidence-based treatment that helps people release stored feelings, thoughts, and sensations associated with stressful and traumatic incidents. In addition to EMDR, Ashton also implements Mindfulness, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Gottman Method to address internal and external conflict and communication in the lives of her clients. Ashton works to provide clients with a safe, judgment free space to explore difficult, distressing, and disturbing content. Ashton also provides opportunities to highlight strengths, resources, and resiliency to leave sessions feeling confident and restored.
