About My Clients
Whether you are healing from trauma, challenging relationships, systemic oppression, difficult internal narratives, loss, substance abuse, or other issues that drive disconnection between you and your truest self, I will work to help you develop the coping skills and strategies that work for you. Together, we will establish a therapeutic relationship built on mutual trust and transparency to create a space where your authentic self is welcome and accepted.
My Background and Approach
I am a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and have a background in supporting LGBTQIA+ youth & adults in navigating challenges related to gender, sexuality and other mental health issues unique to our community. My early background and experience focused on survivors of sexual and domestic violence, and I am trained in EMDR for trauma processing. I have some experience with substance abuse treatment, and use a humanistic and harm-reduction approach in my work. I utilize Attachment Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Theory, and an anti-oppressive, strengths-based approach in my practice.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My work is informed by my understanding of the impacts that societal, historical, and environmental systems have on mental health. I am guided by my values of anti-oppression, trauma-informed care, and unconditional positive regard. My goal is for each client to feel seen, heard, accepted, and challenged in ways that promote healing and growth.
