About My Clients
I specialize in working with people who have experienced trauma and violence. This includes adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, survivors of sexual assault, and survivors of domestic violence. I also work with those who have lost a loved one to sudden tragic death, such as homicide or accidents, and those dealing with grief. Much of my therapeutic work also includes supporting sex workers, providing therapy to people who use substances, and the LGBTQ+ community.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Clinical Social worker in North Carolina. I received my Bachelors degree in Family and Child Studies from Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ in 2011, and my Masters in Social Work from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ in 2013, with a focus on clinical social work. I additionally received a graduate level certificate from Rutgers University in Violence Against Women and Children. I have been a member of the National Association of Social Workers for 10 years and am encouraged daily to continue learning and reading about issues that arise in the lives of my clients. I enjoy joining with my clients on their journey to healing and greater understanding of themselves. I practice from a humanistic perspective, as it is important to recognize each person as a whole, rather than just their life circumstances. Kindness, genuine regard, and compassion are always present in each interaction with my clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that all people are capable of change. My education, professional experiences, personal experiences, and own therapy has led me to understand this as true. I believe in appropriate self-disclosure when clinically beneficial, and know that transparency between client and therapist can help the process of healing and greater understanding. I have done the ground work in my field, including working on a domestic violence/sexual assault hotline, running a needle exchange program, and leading an intensive outpatient substance use program. I believe that my professional experiences have positioned me well to meet people where they are, and provide truly compassionate care.
