About My Clients
Clients often come to therapy feeling stuck, depleted, or overwhelmed. They may struggle with self-worth, depression, anxiety, trauma, or patterns of behavior that no longer serve them. I believe therapy is a collaborative space for warm acceptance of who you are now while working toward your desired growth and healing. My work happens on multiple levels, including symptom management and relief, skill-building, cognitive and behavioral relearning, and trauma healing and processing.
My Background and Approach
On the spectrum from reflective/passive therapists to active/directive therapists, I lean toward the active side. One of the most common frustrations people share about past therapy is that their therapist “just listened.” I aim to be an engaged co-facilitator in the therapy space, bringing my authentic self into the room. I describe my approach as “holistic,” meaning that all parts of you are welcome and that different aspects of well-being—mental, emotional, physical, social, and environmental—are interconnected rather than separate. I primarily use Internal Family Systems (IFS). Many people come to therapy feeling frustrated because they already know what they should do (e.g., I know I should stop isolating. I know I should go outside more. I know I should stop drinking.) but struggle to make those choices. IFS helps us understand ourselves, recognize why we do what we do, and cultivate self-compassion, healing, and lasting well-being.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I approach therapy through multiple lenses: Person Centered Approach — I see you with unconditional positive regard, recognizing you as the expert and authority on your life and healing. This also means I show up as my genuine self in our sessions. Systems Theory Approach – I understand your mental health as interconnected with your environment—shaped by politics, identities, relationships, work, the city you live in, and more. Intersectional Approach – I care deeply about how systems of power related to identity, society, and culture affect you, me, and our dynamic. I work toward supporting your sense of self-empowerment and helping you recognize yourself as your own healer.
