About My Clients
I apply social justice, anti-oppression, and trauma-informed lenses to my counseling practice. I have experience working with adults of all ages from diverse and marginalized backgrounds, and have worked primarily with people living with HIV, and the LGBTQ+ community. My clients have dealt with anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, mood and personality disorders, grief and loss, interpersonal issues, low self-esteem, and issues of race, gender, sexuality, and class.
My Background and Approach
I practice person-centered therapy, utilizing interventions from solutions-focused brief therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and acceptance and commitment therapy. I believe that each one of us are the experts of our own experiences. I meet each client with kindness and curiosity, offering unconditional support, and the occasional challenge. I also offer mindfulness-based tools and strategies to cope with distress, and uncomfortable thoughts and feelings. My goal is to walk alongside my clients on their journeys of personal growth and transformation, helping them to recognize their existing and potential strengths, and to cultivate self-compassion and resilience.
