About My Clients
I understand that starting therapy can feel new and scary. I provide an empathetic, trauma-informed space to discover your queer or trans identity (at any age or stage), to learn how to rebuild trustworthy relationships following a trauma, or to explore difficult prior experiences, at your own pace and without judgment . I strive to bring the humanity back into therapy by (appropriately) breaking the fourth wall — providing an authentic, open, and warm therapeutic space.
My Background and Approach
While I am formally trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and LGBTQ+ centered Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I am adaptable in my treatment style, and I believe that supporting client needs and fostering the therapeutic relationship is key. I also incorporate elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into my work, but my approach with each individual client depends on your own therapeutic needs and goals. I recently completed my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree at New York University's Silver School of Social Work, and I am licensed in New York and New Jersey. I am working under the supervision of Andrew Triska, MSW, LCSW at Triska Psychotherapy — an all LGBTQ+ staffed practice that specializes in anxiety and OCD.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone has the capacity to grow — and providing a supportive, affirming environment is crucial in building resilience and confidence. My work with my own therapist has significantly improved my capacity for healthy relationships, my confidence in my queer identity, and my ability to accept and appreciate all aspects of my most genuine self. I understand firsthand how LGBTQ+ affirming therapy, and affirming therapy for all, can leave a lasting positive impact. I carry this sentiment with me in all the work I do. Prior to obtaining my MSW, I spent four years working in journalism, primarily covering mental health. Because of this, I uniquely understand how to communicate mental health support and resources in a way that feels authentic, communicative, and digestible. Most importantly, I am learning as I go, and I feel that bringing my humanity and imperfections into therapy as a clinician can be just as valuable as my expertise.
