About My Clients
I work with adults, and some teenagers. As a queer autistic person, I especially enjoy working with people who are exploring their neurodivergence, sexuality, and gender. I also love helping people with religious trauma, spirituality, disabilities, internalized fatphobia, and suffering related to capitalism.
My Background and Approach
I have 2 years of experience in community-based work, meaning I had the privilege of being with clients in their homes and communities. In that work I supported individuals and families with a range of backgrounds and a variety of presenting needs, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, BPD, relationship struggles, parenting, systemic oppression, chronic illness, internalized fatphobia, grief, suicidality, self-harm, substance misuse, and religious/spiritual reconstruction. Prior to working in that setting, I worked for 2 years as a direct support professional for autistic children and intellectually disabled adults. Because there is no “one-size-fits-all” in therapy, I tailor my approach to suit unique goals and needs, drawing from diverse perspectives and modalities, with a special focus on internal family systems (IFS) dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), narrative therapy, and neurodiversity-affirming therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am passionate about providing all clients with individualized care that is affirming, non-pathologizing, anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and strengths-based. I pair my counseling work with activism, because I recognize mental illness as a natural reaction to unmet needs, systemic issues, and generational trauma. Specifically, I engage in direct action, community care, and mutual aid with Food Not Bombs.
