About My Clients
You might be feeling like finding peace with your body or having boundaries are a distant fantasy, but I'm here to help you discover that they aren't. Through an intersectional feminist approach we can work together to interrogate those internalized beliefs and undo cultural oppression that keeps us feeling limited.
My Background and Approach
I come to the therapy world via performing arts and corporate training. I have lived experience as a fat bodied female and find that my experience in these identities has helped me with understanding other types of marginalization and connect more deeply with clients. Sometimes, people are surprised when they learn that I am a counselor, a public speaker, and a performer. To me, this feels organic, but I appreciate that it’s not a combination that most folks would think of immediately. I view them all as opportunities to help. I have experience with grief, trauma, and boundary setting and work with many clients on how to set and maintain boundaries to free themselves up to pursue the life they desire. I am always continuing my work toward being anti-racist, gender-affirming, and holding space for the spectrum of clients and their challenges that find themselves in my office.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Social justice is important to me and I integrate this into both my personal and professional life. I aim to reduce the stigma around mental illness and mental health care by talking about it to anyone that will listen (and sometimes into the void of the internet). I support the arts in my community and engage in performing arts when my time allows. I like weird art and collect pieces that inspire some kind of emotional reaction.
