About My Clients
I feel fortunate to have spent the majority of my five-year clinical career working in community mental health, primarily with adults, at all stages of recovery. Community work, in addition to individual therapeutic settings, has given me vast experience in working with trauma, substance use, serious mental illness, depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Throughout our sessions, we'll discuss challenges, uncover how they might be linked with past experiences, and use your own strengths to build agency.
My Background and Approach
I've worked in Community Mental Health for several years supporting folks with chronic and serious mental illness with integrating into the community. This time provided me with valuable experience working with people in extremely challenging and complicated situations. I believe there is no obstacle too large to conquer and no limit to the human capacity to hope, adapt, and improve. Since obtaining my masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I've moved into the private practice space, though I remain passionate about and involved in efforts to improve the world for our most vulnerable neighbors.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My approach is trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and LGBTQIA+ affirming, informed by systems and attachment theories. By identifying how an individual's specific identity group can be impacted by societal structures, we can begin understand how to nagivate their unique existence and make meaningful change, even against the most difficult odds. My goal is for my clients to better understand themselves, to be more successfully equipped to handle challengs, and therefore more powerful when facing future adversity.
