About My Clients
Something feels off in your life. You're frustrated. You're struggling to understand the sadness or anxiety or anger that's clouding your mind. Therapy can help you sort through what's going on and bring you relief. All of the answers are within you. My job is to listen to you very carefully and help you uncover what's underneath the pain you're in.
My Background and Approach
My background as a clinician started in community mental health in Washington, DC and Miami, including with adults with serious mental illness, children in school settings, adults in hospice care, and women experiencing homelessness. I use a psychodynamic approach in my work in individual therapy, which is a long-term treatment intending to get beneath symptoms and delve to the roots of what is causing suffering in your life. I completed additional training in psychoanalytic treatment with the Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Course at the Florida Psychoanalytic Center and am engaged in further training in relational psychoanalytic treatment with the Stephen Mitchell Relational Study Center.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the power of therapy to bring life joy and depth because that is exactly what therapy did for me. Therapy can bring much more than relief from symptoms. Therapy can transform your way of relating to your self and the world, opening your mind to new dimensions of acceptance, equanimity, and meaning. I’m honored every day to connect with my clients. I revere the privilege of entering into therapeutic relationships with my clients and doing this challenging, vulnerable work. I was a longtime weekly volunteer with children's after school programs, including the Homeless Children's Playtime Project in Washington, DC and Hope for Miami in Miami, FL.
