About My Clients
I am a passionate advocate for respectful and dignified clinical care for individuals from historically pathologized and marginalized groups. I have experience supporting individuals who identify as sex workers and/or people with lived experience in the sex trades, LGBTQIAS2+, BIPOC, neurodivergent, kinky, non-monogamous, and polyamorous.
My Background and Approach
In our sessions, we may check in with the body as a guide for deepening understanding of emotions, strengthening the mind-body connection, and building more trust with your intuition. I also believe that therapy works best when explored through a systems lens: while therapy helps us cope and heal, we’re still impacted by larger oppressive structures like capitalism and racism that individual therapy will not cure. I use several therapeutic modalities including Parts Work, Narrative Therapy, Body-Center Psychotherapy, Systems Theory, and Attachment Theory. I graduated from the U of O with a Bachelor’s in Youth Identity Development, and I set out to support teens as a skills trainer and mentor. After many years in social services, I returned to the creative and fulfilling world of dance. As an entertainer and dance instructor, I collaborated and organized with the Portland sex trades community before pursuing my Master of Social Work program at Portland State University.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
While working with my clients I often look to early childhood experiences and family structure to explore habituated relational patterns. Questioning habituated patterns can expand our ability to relate to ourselves and others. I believe that both intuition and turning toward sensations in the body can support a deeper understanding of unmet needs, emotional reactivity, and numbness. I also believe that there are parts of us that have conflicting needs and goals, which can cause deep confusion. Through a wider lens, I critique systems that perpetuate oppressive conditions and partner with my clients to explore paths toward community support and mutual aid. I am in my own ongoing process of unlearning my internalized biases and normative thinking that uphold white supremacist values.
