About My Clients
Do you find yourself feeling on edge lately? Lack of energy? Or a shift in mood that has been impacting your daily activities? I know that feeling. Anxiety and depression are common struggles that individuals go through on a daily basis, especially when coming out of a pandemic that has impacted all of us. Quarantine, mask mandates, political violence, mass shootings, climate change, and an unsteady economy has affected our mental health. My role is to help you make sense of your emotions.
My Background and Approach
My goal for you is to learn how to apply the skills and techniques that have been scientifically proven to alleviate anxiety, depression, trauma, etc. so that you are able to start the healing process and feel a sense of relief. My main approach to therapy is cognitive behavioral therapy, in which I work with how one's thoughts impact our emotions and behaviors toward an event. We will collaborate in formulating goals that are specific to your needs as well as develop strategies to address your anxiety, depression, trauma, family conflict, relationship issues, etc. I also tailor your therapy sessions according to your situation, whether that be using DBT, person-centered, solution-focused, play therapy, sandtray therapy, and the list goes on. I have experience working with individuals, families, children (ages 8 and up), teens, and young adults. I also have worked with issues such as depression, anxiety, behavioral problems, relationship conflicts, family conflict, trauma, self-esteem.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We are the authors of our own lives. We have the solutions to our problems. Sometimes it is okay to ask for help in seeking these solutions. Therapy allows you to go on a journey for self-exploration. You will discover the values, interests, and passions that have helped make your world a little safe. It may seem intimidating to be vulnerable with a complete stranger, but given the time and nurturing of a therapeutic relationship, you will start to feel a little better. My approach is to listen to you in a nonjudgmental way. You are the author of your story and I am honored to be a part of listening to what makes you "you."
