About My Clients
A lot of my work with clients involves exploring their beliefs about themselves and the world, and how we can adjust these beliefs to help them achieve improved self-esteem and authenticity. I work with clients of marginalized identities, providing affirmative care and integrating my knowledge of systemic oppression in my approach to therapy. In my work with partners, I emphasize increasing effective communication and mutual understanding. I specialize in nonmonogamy and polyamory.
My Background and Approach
I approach counseling as a collaborative space where my client is the expert on their experiences. My role is to guide clients through an exploration of patterns and themes to identify where they are getting stuck. I provide what my clients need at a given moment, whether that be active conversations about skills or space to process and be heard. It is important to me to meet clients where they are and structure the therapeutic process accordingly. I often integrate expressive arts into my approach as a form of expression that goes beyond language. I have training in CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing. I operate from a trauma-informed perspective and provide affirmative care to members of marginalized communities.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Vulnerability lies at the heart of our greatest fears, as well as our potential for joy and connectedness. The courage to be vulnerable enables us to live more authentically and take steps towards greater fulfillment. Therapy provides us the opportunity to embrace ourselves and all that we can become.
