About My Clients
Many of my clients may appear fine on the surface, but inside, they are struggling. They may be trying to move forward from things that have happened in their pasts, grieving a loss, having conflict in relationships, or dealing with big life changes. I encourage clients to take responsibility for understanding unhelpful patterns and behaviors in their relationships and, by using skills learned in therapy, change those patterns thereby improving the quality of their relationships and lives
My Background and Approach
I use a psychodynamic, trauma-informed approach integrating Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Attachment Theory. My goal is to empower you to improve your ability to cope with life's stressors, function better in relationships, process past issues, and overcome barriers to having the life and relationships you want. I'm not a therapist who will stare at you silently and nod occasionally; I'll be getting in there with you, talking about anything you need to (I've heard it all!) from work and relationships to sex and strange bodily functions. Some of our work will feel serious, but we'll also laugh a lot. I hope to create a safe space where you can put it all on the table.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I strive to create a therapeutic environment that is warm, safe, and nonjudgmental. Regardless of what brings you here, I believe that the foundation of effective therapy lies in building positive and trusting relationships with my clients so that they feel supported as they work toward their goals, and that is my top priority. I work with clients of all genders, sexual orientations, races, religions, political views, and backgrounds and I am LBGTQ+ affirming.
