About My Clients
My areas of specialization focus on individuals who were bullied or mistreated at home during childhood, leading them to develop anxiety, self-criticism, and people-pleasing behaviors as coping mechanisms. I offer Psychotherapy, Somatic Experiencing (body-based therapy), and Empowerment Tools, including communication skills, to transform you into a person who loves themselves and is committed to being on their own side. Please check out my reviews online. I am licensed in NY, NJ, FL, and CT.
My Background and Approach
I take a holistic approach to psychotherapy, recognizing the interconnected nature of mind, body, and spirit to achieve overall well-being. If you feel that your life isn’t working as it should be, and your coping mechanisms are no longer effective, you’ve come to the right place. I believe that speaking the truth about your experiences is the key to unlocking your freedom and building a future that aligns with your desires. Through skills offered in my Empowerment Toolbox, you will learn and practice methods that provide strategies to better living. Trauma, whether from childhood abuse, neglect, or other significant life events, leaves a lasting impact on your emotional and physical well-being. It can create deeply ingrained patterns of fear, self-criticism, and disconnection. Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a powerful therapeutic approach that I offer, addresses the physical aspects of trauma and stress, recognizing that trauma is not just a mental or emotional experience.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As the the "family scapegoat" while growing up, the one in the family that everyone bullied, I recognized early on that I was different from them. For one, I possessed empathy for people. Then the feeling of desperation that arose from being wronged for no reason, where no one stepped-in to help, solidified the hopelessness that became a constant part of my identity. From this and other unfair treatments along the way, I sought out therapy in college, where for the first time I was encouraged to speak the truth about what had happened. While I felt relief from this, I still struggled in other areas of my life and felt hopeless. Through the years, I tried to help myself, through reading, taking classes, engaging in various therapies, etc., until one day, I woke up and realized that I actually felt better, overall. My understanding and support for those treated unfairly, elicits my deep stance on Justice For All, which is why I am an advocate. This remains a bottom line for me.
