About My Clients
My clients are high-achieving BIPOC individuals in NY navigating depression, anxiety, or perfectionism. They may feel overwhelmed by societal and cultural pressures while balancing their personal and professional lives. We’ll explore these challenges together, reconnect with strengths, and create meaningful change. I work with BIPOC couples navigating communication struggles, emotional disconnection, or parenting challenges. Whether deciding on having children or managing parenthood, I can help!
My Background and Approach
I became a therapist because I understand how challenging it can be to seek help. I grew up in a Latino household, held together with Latino cultural expectations and traditional Christian values, where therapy is often stigmatized. Growing up, I was taught to keep emotional struggles within the family, making it difficult to access the support I needed. This personal experience drives my passion to create a safe, supportive space for others, especially those from Latinx and BIPOC communities, to break through these barriers and access the care they deserve. I have been trained in EFT, CBT, person-centered therapy, and motivational interviewing, and I use a combination of these approaches. I work collaboratively with every client in order to truly understand what approach works best and achieve the goals that you have set for yourself. I am here to listen with compassion, work with you to identify obstacles, and brainstorm effective and healthy ways to confront, cope, and overcome.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As you might have already noticed, I do not believe that therapy should look the same for everyone. That's because we all have many identities that overlap and intersect. As someone who has personal experience of what it's like to code-switch or hide parts of your identity, I want to make sure that you don't have to do that with me. Be who you are. Be bold in this space with me. Be the person that you've always wanted to be! Culture is an important part of therapy and my Latina identity enters the therapy space with me. This is beneficial for all clients, especially to my Latina/Latino/Latinx clients. Being able to switch between English and Spanish without having to translate Spanish words (because sometimes, there really is no accurate translation!) offers a very necessary freedom in the therapy space.
