About My Clients
I prioritize authenticity, autonomy, & vulnerability to ensure you feel comfortable and supported throughout your healing journey. I'm here to validate your experiences and help you get unstuck from feelings of anxiety, depression, and emotional reactivity to move towards a happier, healthier life. I'm a queer therapist with a passion for helping individuals, couples, and groups between the ages of 14 and 65 who want to overcome trauma, anxiety, and depression.
My Background and Approach
As a social worker, I have specialized training in treating complex, cultural, and historical traumas using therapeutic approaches such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), mindfulness, and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). I integrate various methods and theories including culturally affirming and trauma responsive best practices to help each client receive unique and individualized support. Any approach I use in session, I have personally used with my own therapist and I have certification through EMDRIA and the IFS Institute Trainers.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked with diverse populations of queer young adults on college campuses. I taught Gender and Women’s Studies, Cultural Studies, and Ethnic Studies at universities while working at two LGBTQ+ Resource Centers at BGSU and UGA. I'm currently continuing my education working toward a Ph.D. in American Culture Studies. I often combine my knowledge of system-induced traumas, cultural traumas, and humanistic approaches to help clients to unpack their trauma(s) with consent of self and consciousness of cultural expectations that shape how we heal, build attachments, construct our identities, and how we view autonomy and agency.
