About My Clients
Do you find yourself often feeling overwhelmed, fearful/hypervigilant or reactionary? Do you struggle to sit with your own feelings or to trust yourself? Are you feeling limited with traditional talk therapy? These experiences are common when we have experienced something traumatic. Trauma often "teaches" us negative lessons about ourself and/or the world. Are you interested in healing and re-writing some of the "lessons" trauma has taught you? If so, I am excited to do this work with you.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) with specific training in trauma informed care, mindfulness, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Motivational Interviewing, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and IFS (Internal Family Systems) informed EMDR. Im currently completing the EMDR certification process, and I truly appreciate the opportunity to work with clients using trauma specific and body-based modalities to address negative stories of self, and re-connect with a more adaptive, healthy self-concept.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the power of community, connection, nature, and our ability to heal when we feel safe and supported. I believe we each have the potential within ourselves to move towards deep healing and increased wellness. My interpretations of wellness have been informed by diverse experiences and communities, having lived as far north as Alaska and as far South as Chiapas and many places in between. I come to this work with a strengths-based perspective, a systems approach, humility and acknowledgement that all forms of othering, and unequal access to resources, inherently affects people's experiences in the world. In addition, I hold a true appreciation and awe of the bravery that is required for someone to seek out therapy and look inside. In my free time I LOVE to cook, travel, spend time outside and learn about this vast and truly amazing natural world in which we get to exist. I also enjoy volunteering, community engagement, kayaking/canoeing, plants and a bunch more.
