About My Clients
Are you feeling disconnected from yourself and those around you? Do your needs always seem to come last? Do you ever think life could be better or happier? Nowadays, many people are grappling with anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, and unsure about balancing their relationships, careers, and personal lives. Ignoring your needs and neglecting self-care can lead to serious long-term mental and physical health issues. Embracing mindfulness and psychological flexibility can be a gateway to change.
My Background and Approach
As a board certified couples and family therapist, I believe positively changing our relationship to our thoughts and feeling is key to happiness and stability in life. Seeking help can be one of the hardest parts, so congratulations on taking that step! I’ve been practicing for 11 years, helping clients struggling with anxiety and depression issues, as well as relationship, communication, and intimacy concerns. Therapy is a collaborative experience and my clients knowledge of themselves is central to the work we do together. I practice a modality of therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. ACT focuses on increasing psychological flexibility through mindfulness and direct contact with our core values. Through the use of humor, metaphor, and practical exercise I help clients gain insight into what matters to them, what shows up and gets in the way, and how to live a more values-oriented life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that psychological flexibility is the key to change. The ability to get unhooked from our constant tug-of-war with out thoughts and feelings is grounded in mindfulness, self-compassion, and gratitude. We have the capacity to rewrite unworkable stories about ourself and the world in order to more closely connect with our core values and move towards who and what is important to us. My practice will always be a welcoming space for BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ clients. I believe that celebrating diverse lived experiences enhances us as individuals, and as a society. I am a kink-friendly therapist who understands that consent, open communication, and safety are critical for fulfilling intimacy. I'm excited to work with you to help you meet your goals.
