About My Clients
Trauma can change our nervous system from the inside out and can have effects that last years after the event that took place. One of my specialities is helping people heal from past wounds and develop tools to be able to move forward. I also work with a lot of people who struggle with anxiety and issues surrounding self worth. Oftentimes, these two go hand in hand. Therapies such as EMDR or mindfulness based techniques have helped many be able to manage their anxiety and improve self worth.
My Background and Approach
-Fully certified in EMDR and comprehensive training in trauma-informed approaches. -Extensive training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). -Utilization of techniques from several other modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gestalt, and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). -Trained teacher of the Mindful Self Compassion Program through Center for Mindful Self Compassion. -Completed 2-year mindfulness-based program through Embracing Simplicity. My approach to therapy is to go in depth and explore core issues fundamental to well-being. Getting to the roots can often help facilitate deep transformation and healing from the inside out. Exploring the intimate connection between body and mind, we develop the skills and habits of attending to our whole being. I enjoy working with clients to help them uncover deeper layers of themselves and to integrate these parts into a whole.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we are all capable of transformation. No matter how dark things might seem or how much trauma is in the past, it is possible to heal and to develop the tools and skills to live a better life. I am speaking from personal experience. I have a variety of interests and have been involved in several activist movements and non-profit organization, including those involving the LGBTQIA community, communities of color, and Buddhist communities. My doors are open to all and I can promise and open and affirming, non-judgmental environment. In my spare time, I enjoy outdoors activities such as hiking, biking, going to the beach, and spending time with my dog, Mandy,
