About My Clients
I specialize in working with people experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, grief, loss, life transitions and planning, disability, and stress. When in treatment, I approach people by learning and understanding their difficulties, work on building skills, and collaboratively develop a plan of action towards being their own healer. I want to provide individuals with the tools to self-regulate and soothe.
My Background and Approach
When I engage with clients, I come with active listening and empathy to assist with becoming comfortable to participate in therapy. I have a person-centered approach with the goal of being collaborative because you know you best. My role is to hold a position of support, adding language to further describe your lived experiences, teach emotional literacy, develop solutions to problems, and overall teach tools to enhance your confidence and abilities to manage emotional struggles. I implement Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) into my treatment. As a clinician, I am dedicated to empowering clients through introducing and enhancing skills to gain self-awareness, adaptive coping, and decision-making for one's own life, and I believe with the aforementioned treatment interventions will assist an individual with achieving their treatment goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
We are functioning in a society that encourages not acknowledging your emotions, which tends to contribute to presenting symptoms such as anxiety and depression. Some individuals are not taught how to practice and engage in emotional literacy due to various life experiences that contributes to the use of defense mechanisms to cope. I believe when you can recognize your discomfort and acknowledging your areas of needs, it is a great way to achieve validating your values and needs for fulfillment from life.
