About My Clients
Do you or others find that your reactions to things are bigger than "normal"? Do you avoid situations you'd like to participate in because of anxiety, fear, memories of trauma, or discrimination? Have you been feeling broken, damaged, or not good enough? I know how crippling those feelings can be, and I don't want you to suffer any longer. I can help you understand what's happening in your brain and body, and learn coping skills to self-soothe, feel safe, improve self-esteem, and regulate.
My Background and Approach
If you've been affected by trauma, anxiety, or LGBTQ+ issues, it can leave you feeling powerless, overwhelmed, and ashamed. Counseling with me is a safe place for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, present, past, and hopes for the future. Clients find me to be easy to talk to, warm, empathetic, knowledgeable, and helpful. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional-II, I have extensive training in understanding and treating the effects trauma leaves on the mind and body. As someone who has personally suffered from abuse, anxiety, and panic attacks, I've learned and perfected over the years how to manage the symptoms and regain control. I am also passionate about LGBTQ+ rights, inclusion, and mental wellness. I love teaching coping skills and communication skills to help you feel empowered and capable. I'll help you identify goals for counseling, and come up with small homework assignments to make progress between sessions. Healing is possible!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My passion for mental health blossomed after volunteering with the Alachua County Crisis Center as a suicide prevention phone counselor, and first responder for suicidal clients or family members of those who have just died. I have sat with people in their absolute darkest hour, and although I cannot take the pain away, I'll sit with you so you don't have to go through it alone. Being a counselor is a special gift. I am honored to be trusted to witness your pain, and feel great satisfaction when experiencing your progress. I believe everyone can benefit from counseling at some point in their lives, and there's no shame in admitting you could use additional support. I am accepting of everybody, and believe that people are doing the best they can with the resources they have. I love animals, traveling, good food, and mindfulness. If you want to learn more about how I can help, contact me so we can work together to create the life you're meant to live. This is an investment into yourself.
