About My Clients
I commonly work with teens and adults struggling with body image, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, perfectionism, life adjustments, and healing from trauma and oppression. Clients can expect that therapy with me will involve empathy, curiosity, kindness, and a hearty dose of humor. I welcome clients of all races, ethnicities, sexualities, gender identities, and body sizes. I would be honored to walk beside you through this process.
My Background and Approach
I am a WA state Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Washington. I earned my MA in Counseling Psychology from Bastyr University in 2019 where my study heavily emphasized connecting mental health and somatic (body-focused) healing methods. Previously, I graduated with a BA in Medical Anthropology and Global Health from the University of Washington in Seattle. During graduate school, I worked at an eating disorder treatment facility with teens struggling with their relationship to food, their body, and exercise/movement. After graduating, I worked at a treatment facility with teens and adults struggling with depression, suicidal thoughts, disordered eating, anxiety, and trauma, in an Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization setting. I utilize tools from several different therapeutic modalities such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy and attachment theory, in addition to somatic approaches.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a therapist, my intention is to support my clients as they connect with their own innate capacity for healing and growth. I aim to empower my clients to be the guides during this process as I believe they are the experts in their own life and experiences. Being human can be complicated, challenging and messy. It also can be beautiful and delightful, even in the midst of vulnerable healing journeys. It is my responsibility to continue educating myself around issues of oppression and privilege, and how that may show up to my clients, and in my work as a therapist. Outside of therapy, you can find me experimenting in the kitchen, singing along to musicals, watching soccer and football (Go Dawgs!), and snuggling with my pets Lou and Truffle.
