About My Clients
Is it hard to talk to people about your family or close relationships? Do you experience shame, guilt, or self-blame because of those relationships? I can help you relearn how to trust yourself and the people around you. It can be hard to talk about how you are treated by people you love or say they love you. I offer a safe, supportive, and validating therapeutic experience for anyone who is needing someone to believe their experiences.
My Background and Approach
I have worked as an advocate for people of all ages who have been abused for eight years before becoming a therapist. Now, in addition to advocating for those who can't advocate for themselves, I provide a supportive environment to begin or continue the healing process of moving through those experiences. I have worked in child services, the justice system, and community advocacy roles and will use that knowledge as well as emotional, behavioral, and mindful therapeutic practices to assist you in reclaiming your life. Together, we will challenge self-defeating thoughts, difficult emotions, and the anxiety or depression that keeps you from having the life you want.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe it is important to help shape the community in which you want to live. To that end, I am active in a local homeless outreach where we feed, clothe, and minister to people living on the streets, in shelters or hotels, and struggling with financial, mental health, addiction, and relationship issues. I want to live in a world where we treat each other as we would like to be treated. Sometimes, we first have to learn how to treat ourselves with respect in order to teach others how to treat us.
