About My Clients
I love working with clients who are looking for someone who grew up evangelical and understands the impact of religious trauma, while bringing healing approaches to that experience. Most of my clients are neurodivergent (ADHDers, Autistic) or highly sensitive, and queer. I also provide relationship counseling with couples where one or both partners are neurodivergent.
My Background and Approach
I have a special focus on religious authoritarian parenting, and how this kind of parenting discourages development of autonomy and individuality. I love helping clients identify and express themselves, whether it's unmasking their autistic traits, expressing their gender identity, or regaining a sense of autonomy and choice over their life. I also am passionate about empowering clients to set boundaries with their parents, especially when they were raised to have little or no self-autonomy in their family/religous context. I also love working with couples where one or both partners are neurodivergent.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have worked with neurodivergent clients for over a decade, and I'm passionate about supporting those who have felt shamed by society for being different, whether it's for being neurodivergent, fat, disabled, queer, or because of their ethnicity in a racialized society. I believe that white evangelicalism has been incredibly harmful to society as a whole, and especially to many marginalized groups from trans kids, to Black communities and more. I also believe that those who grew up in evangelical/fundamentalist communities deserve to heal and understand the ways that such an upbringing can impact personal development, working to regain autonomy and individuality.
