My Background and Approach
I received my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Naropa University in 2023. I am currently in training to become a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) and a Certified Hakomi Therapist (CHT). My therapeutic specialties are rooted in a multicultural, existential, and social justice framework, addressing areas like substance addiction and recovery, anxiety, depression, developmental trauma, plant medicine/psychedelic integration, and supporting those who identify as marginalized, LGBTQIA2S, and/or Neurodivergent. I use a diverse blend of therapeutic modalities, including Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Narrative Therapy. These are somatic (body-based), transpersonal (connection-based), and cognitive (mental-based) methods, which help cultivate resiliency and the growth of innate power.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
What are some identities that I hold? Millenial, Queer, Cis-gendered Woman, Multiracial, White, Able-bodied, Neurodivergent, Spiritual, Artist Why do identities matter? The short answer: My identities might impact whether you feel comfortable working with me or not. The long answer: Identities can provide language to create common understanding of one’s general experiences. Identity can shape the ways we perceive the world and are perceived by others. I find that learning what identities others hold helps me understand: a) What might someone be coming in with, i.e., how does the way they experience the world impact how they are showing up in front of me now? b) How do my identities and theirs intersect, and what impacts might we have on each other accordingly? I do not highlight identities to create boxes for people to be stuck in, but rather for us to deepen our understanding and find access to empowerment and strength based on our histories and backgrounds.
