About My Clients
I work with individuals who are experiencing trauma/PTSD, anxiety, overwhelm, grief, narcissistic abuse, and relationship issues, as well as those who are simply seeking greater self-awareness and insight. I often work with artists, creatives, and self-aware people who enjoy thinking outside the box. Additionally, I have worked for many years with the cancer community and I am aware of the unique challenges that cancer patients and their caregivers face during treatment and post-treatment.
My Background and Approach
I feel strongly that it is my job as a therapist to empower my clients with specific and practical tools that can help them enact change in their lives. I want my clients to have a "toolkit" that they can draw upon whenever they need it -- this can include everything from learning anxiety management/stress reduction skills to setting healthy boundaries to communicating clearly and assertively. I specialize in trauma therapy, and I am trained in both EMDR and Trauma Resiliency Model. I am particularly interested in the link between body and mind - I am a certified yoga therapist and I have been teaching yoga since 2001. As a yoga therapist, I have worked in hospitals, a cancer support center, and an eating disorder clinic. Prior to specializing in mental health, I worked for many years as an actor in film and theatre. I have a great respect for the creative process and for the unique issues that artists and industry professionals face while pursuing their dreams and goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I work to create a safe, non-judgmental space for my clients and I welcome feedback from my clients along the way. I believe that everyone has the capacity to change, and I am continued amazed by the strength and resiliency of my clients. I consider it an honor to do this work. Everyone is welcome in my practice. I am LGBTQ+ affirmative and neurodiversity affirming.
