About My Clients
I have experience working with those struggling with DV, disordered eating/body image, boundaries, suicidal ideation, sexual trauma, religious trauma, gender and sexual identities, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and life transitions. I understand my privileges and welcome clients of any identities, orientation, and backgrounds.
My Background and Approach
I utilize Internal Family Systems (IFS) in my practice as well as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), elements of mindfulness, attachment theory, and a person-centered lens. In IFS, I believe that there are parts of us that have worked hard to protect us from experiencing hurt and pain from past traumas or life circumstances. I aim to facilitate clients’ getting to know their parts and working with them to heal the vulnerable emotions. I utilize DBT as a way to gain coping skills for daily life and for clients to utilize while processing trauma. I believe there is a strong mind-body connection and by incorporating mindfulness, it can serve as a way for people to ground themselves and be in the present moment. I am a person-centered counselor because I believe that clients are the experts of themselves and I aim to meet them where they’re at in their lives. I work to make the therapeutic relationship to be as equal as possible as well.
