About My Clients
Many of my clients are trying to manage anxiety, understand ADHD, perfectionsim, struggling with relationship issues, self worth, healing from traumas and trying to figure out the reasons they get stuck from an attachment perspective. Typically, my clients are wanting the deeper work to be done with exploring emotions that drive their behaviors to find true healing and not just a bandaid with coping skills. I specialize in working with couples.
My Background and Approach
I am easy to talk to. I want you to really feel like someone is listening to understand you and not judge or decide what you need. I want to work together to help you find your strengths and help with your self awareness to solve your own problems in life. I believe in helping you find there are deep rooted reasons from experiences and traumas in your life that make it hard to not feel the emotions that come and respond the way you do to stress and emotions you experience. I use EMDR for trauma work. I have worked in treatment centers, behavioral hospital units, and community programs where I learned to approach therapy from an open-minded and validating, but also to be direct and challenge when needed.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in understanding a person's unique experiences and the importance of “individuality” and resiliency. I believe in doing work on myself as much as my clients are doing. I have struggled with ADHD and know that understanding helps you love it instead of seeing it as this awful thing to have. I work with couples because it is human nature to bond with others and relationships are part of how we thrive in life. I have done my own marriage counseling and after doing EFT with my husband- I feel emotionally connected and we can step into each others perspectives now without protection and defensive moves. I am passionate about understanding diversity issues and remaining progressive in educating myself and remaining openminded when understanding someone's life experience. To be blunt- A book can tell you something, but finding out why someone with a different cultural background/ religious background or is part of the LGBTQIA population may have different needs- is essential!
