About My Clients
While I know you have your own innate compass for healing and you have no doubt done important work towards your own self-discovery and growth, I also believe the shared journey with a therapist can attend to wounds in ways that individual work cannot. Some of my clients are coming to therapy for the very first time, others have been in therapy off and on for years. Together, we'll figure out what's helpful for you in the here-and-now.
My Background and Approach
I love my work and I'm biased towards the idea of therapy for everyone all the time, but let's begin by talking about how things end: We'll know our work is done when you feel confident that you can navigate your emotional seasons with the insight and strategies we develop together. You should feel increased peace and satisfaction in your relationship with yourself and the people around you; your energy for daily life; and your preparedness to weather future storms. With that in mind, dream big: What would your days, weeks, years be like without the obstacles of certain memories, thoughts, emotions, or patterns of behavior? Trauma, pain, or loss may be a part of your story, but we'll work together to cultivate a narrative where you flourish: transforming difficult experiences into fertile grounds for a rich existence. I consider myself a nimble clinician and I'm confident we will find a style of care that works for you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Crying alone serves one purpose; crying with a "trusted other" serves another. Working with a therapist should not only transform the inner wounds and tensions accumulated during your lifetime, but also enhance your sense of belonging to the communities you trust the most, so that when our work has ended, you have grown your skills both intra- and inter-personally to live a life of vibrancy and connectedness. I believe capacity for all the -isms and phobias live inside of us: sexism, racism, homophobia etc. Exploring our own capacities for both fostering love and inflicting pain is a part of the human journey and important work for us all to endeavor. Perfectionism isn't a goal, but radical gentleness for - and accountability to - self and others is.
